A domestic ritual reimagined, where care, memory and craft transform seating into an architecture of welcome.

A Gesture of Care

Conceived for EDIT Napoli 2025, Accomodatevi! unfolds as a spatial narrative rooted in the culture of hospitality. Handcrafted papier-mâché seats reinterpret the tradition of the “good chairs”: objects preserved, protected and reserved for special occasions. This suspended use becomes a design device, where absence generates value and anticipation. The installation transforms a familiar gesture into an architectural act, framing care as a collective and spatial experience.

Symbols of Welcome

The project is articulated through a system of evocative elements, where objects carry layered meanings. Pinecones—ancient symbols of protection and prosperity—punctuate the space, reinforcing a sense of ritual and belonging. Together with the seating, they construct an environment that is both intimate and symbolic, where the act of sitting becomes a moment of exchange. The installation operates as a threshold, inviting visitors into a condition of openness and shared presence.

An Ordinary Extraordinary

Extending beyond the central installation, the project integrates complementary narratives through objects and graphics. Deep blue surfaces—referencing the historical shift toward a “democratic blue”—amplify material perception, while a series of postcards translates everyday life into a visual archive. Within this layered composition, design engages with the ordinary to reveal its latent intensity, constructing a landscape where memory, identity and daily rituals converge.
