A layered tapestry translated into space, where fabric becomes architecture and identity unfolds through pattern, color, and rhythm.
Weaving the Narrative
Located within the vibrant retail landscape of Ikebukuro, Tokyo, the project interprets Etro’s visual language as an immersive spatial system. Known for its deep connection to textiles, color, and ornamental patterns, the brand finds here a three-dimensional expression. The store becomes a woven environment, where surfaces and volumes echo the complexity of fabric, transforming decoration into structure and identity into space.
Between Pattern and Structure
The interior is conceived as a balance between richness and control. Iconic motifs are not simply applied but embedded within the architecture, guiding perception and movement. Layers of material and color interact to create depth, while maintaining a precise compositional order. This tension between expressive pattern and spatial clarity reflects Etro’s ability to merge exuberance with discipline, translating fashion codes into a coherent architectural language.
A Spatial Fabric
More than a retail environment, the store unfolds as a continuous fabric in which each element contributes to a unified atmosphere. Display, circulation, and materiality are integrated into a single system, allowing the visitor to move through a sequence of tactile and visual experiences. In this setting, identity is not fixed but layered—constructed through repetition, variation, and perception, much like a textile that reveals itself over time.
