A contemporary retail space emerges within the historic fabric of Edinburgh, where clarity, light and material restraint shape a calm urban interior.

A Store Within the City

Located on Princes Street, one of Edinburgh’s most prominent urban avenues, the UNIQLO store establishes a dialogue between the brand’s contemporary retail language and the architectural character of the city. Inserted within a historic building overlooking the gardens and the castle skyline, the project transforms the interior into a clear and welcoming environment, where the rhythm of the façade and the presence of large windows connect the store to the surrounding urban landscape.

Light and Spatial Clarity

Natural light becomes a central design element, entering the space through the generous street-facing openings. The layout is organised through a sequence of open floors that allow visual continuity between levels, reinforcing the sense of transparency and orientation. Clean lines, neutral tones and carefully balanced proportions define an atmosphere of calm precision, reflecting the essential character of the LifeWear philosophy.

Material Simplicity

The interior palette is intentionally restrained. Timber surfaces, light-coloured finishes and minimal display structures create a quiet architectural background for the collections. Rather than competing with the products, the space acts as a framework that enhances their presence. The result is a retail environment defined by simplicity, order and light—an architecture that translates everyday functionality into spatial experience.
