A reconstructed urban interior where memory, structure and everyday life converge into a precise and open retail landscape.

A Reclaimed Structure

Set within the former St. Enoch Picture Theatre on Argyle Street, the project for UNIQLO transforms a fragmented ensemble into a unified spatial system. Multiple adjacent units are consolidated into a single continuous volume, restoring clarity to the building while preserving its urban presence. The intervention redefines the historic fabric through subtraction and reinforcement, establishing a renewed architectural order rooted in both memory and contemporary use.

Clarity as Infrastructure

The space is conceived as a legible and coherent framework, where structure, circulation and display operate as one. Clean lines and controlled light construct a calm and ordered environment, reflecting UNIQLO’s philosophy of simplicity and functionality. Across two expansive levels, the layout supports a seamless experience, allowing the full LifeWear system to unfold as a continuous and accessible field.

A Collective Interior

Beyond retail, the project introduces a social dimension embedded within the spatial sequence. Dedicated areas for repair and reuse promote a circular approach, extending the life of garments and engaging the local community. The store becomes both infrastructure and interface, where architecture frames everyday rituals and shared practices, constructing a balanced environment between efficiency, permanence and collective identity.
