A contemporary retail landscape unfolds within a historic Roman gallery, where the language of LifeWear meets the architectural memory of the Eternal City.

Within the Roman Gallery

Located inside the historic Galleria Alberto Sordi, along Via del Corso, the UNIQLO flagship introduces a new retail presence within one of Rome’s most iconic urban interiors. Conceived as a dialogue between contemporary retail and historical architecture, the project occupies a three-level space that interprets the gallery not only as a shopping destination but as a civic passage. The store becomes a continuation of the surrounding city, inviting visitors to move fluidly between architecture, fashion and urban life.

Echoes of the Eternal City

The design draws inspiration from the architectural language of Rome, translating familiar elements of the city into the spatial identity of the store. Arches, portals and warm travertine tones evoke the material palette of the capital, while radial floor patterns subtly recall the geometry of Roman piazzas. Through these references, the interior reflects the atmosphere of the surrounding city, transforming the retail environment into a contemporary interpretation of Rome’s architectural heritage.

Movement Through Space

At the centre of the project, the staircase becomes the architectural fulcrum of the store. Inspired by the nearby Column of Marcus Aurelius, its ascending sequence suggests a narrative movement through the space, guiding visitors across the different levels of the boutique. Clear circulation, visual openness and intuitive navigation organise the interior experience, allowing the collections to unfold naturally within a calm and legible spatial framework.
